DeSoto Summer Camp 2015 - June 14-June 19, 2015

DeSoto Summer Camp 2015 - June 14-June 19, 2015: Camp Fee is $225/Scout *(Some programs require additional materials and supplies at additional cost, Basketry +$12, Leatherwork +$10, Wood Carving +$8, Archery Arrow Kit +$5 ea., Indian Lore Kit +$15 ea.). Camp Fee is payable now (Contact Mr. Crook or Ms. Renee for payment). Scouts with a balance in their personal Popcorn account may use all or part of their balance to offset the cost of camp, see Ms. Renee to check your balances. A current Medical Form is required for Summer Camp, forms are available online and may be downloaded by following the sidebar menu link "Medical Form (Link)". Scouts and Scouters attending Summer Camp will need to meet in the church parking lot at 1PM Sunday, June 14 for departure. Wear your class A uniforms for travel. Don't forget your medical form, bike and helmet. ~ See You Sunday

Spring Camporee - April 10-12, 2015 - Crater of Diamonds State Park, AR

This years DeSoto Area Council's Spring Camporee will be at the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro, AR. Crater of Diamonds State Park is the only diamond-producing site in the world open to the public. "Finders Keepers." Park policy is any diamonds, semi-precious stones, rocks, or minerals you unearth are yours to keep, regardless of their value.

Things to bring:

  • Traveling in Class A's
  • Weekend camping gear, including mess kit. (Temps Hi/Lo: Fri. 75/48, Sat. 75/57).
  • Small gardening tools (including a pail and sifter/screen) if you would like to dig.
  • Could be a little muddy in the diamond field, bring proper clothing and footwear.
  • Sunscreen / Insect Repellent.
  • Don't forget a Sack Dinner for Friday Evening.

Shiloh National Military Trail Hike/Campout - March 27-29, 2015

We will be traveling to the Shiloh National Military Trail in Shiloh, TN. and hiking the 14 Mile Historical Trail (SMT1) March 27-29, 2015. Cost is $45 per Camper/Hiker. Shiloh Military Park is the site of one of the largest and most strategic battles during the Civil War. It is located 100 miles east of Memphis Tennessee on the banks of the Tennessee River. The hike will consist of a 14 mile day hike on Saturday, March 28. We will camp at a nearby campground on Friday and Saturday March 27th and 28th and return home Sunday March 29. We plan to leave for Shiloh at 12:00PM, Noon on Friday, March 27, 2015. Please already have eaten lunch or bring a sack lunch for the trip, we will not be stopping to eat. We will prepare an evening meal upon arrival at the campsite. Travel time is estimated at 4.5-5 hours. Bring your normal weekend camping gear and a daypack for water and lunch on the trail. Include light rain gear in case of rain during the hike.
